PIC-Based Relaxation Device |
|
This device generates an adjustable, low-frequency magnetic field (Delta, Theta, Alpha, and Beta waves). Such fields are thought to encourage electrical activity of similar frequency in the brain, which in turn may promote associated moods and sensations, such as deep relaxation, creativity, and even sleep (making it of special interest to sufferers of insomnia). The use of a PIC microcontroller for frequency generation simplifies construction and eliminates need for calibration. More details on this construction project can be found in the July 1999 issue of EPE Online, the world's first web-delivered electronics and computing hobbyist magazine.
