Hand-held game player and PC puzzle solving software

Solving Sudoku logic puzzles is an obsession that has swept the UK, and no doubt elsewhere. The Japanese puzzle was first introduced to the UK by The Times newspaper in November 2004. A certain Wayne Gould had apparently turned up at the paper’s headquarters carrying such a puzzle under his arm, wondering if it might prove an “absorbing time-filler” for readers (www.timesonline.co.uk).
